VETERANS SQUARE
Located on Main Street in the middle of downtown Cambridge, WI, Veterans Square is the place for events such as Art and Craft Fairs, Antique Sales, Memorial Day Services, picnics, "Barktober" Fest, and Christmas Caroling. During the summer months, the Cambridge area Farmers Market is set up here on Friday afternoons.
RIPLEY PARK
This is the place to spend a day at the beach. Ripley Park has a nice sandy beach for swimming, playground equipment, picnic shelters, tennis courts, and lots of green space for playing volleyball, softball, or just lying on the cool grass to watch fluffy white clouds drift across the bright blue sky on a lazy summer afternoon. The annual Pottery Festival is held here. Dozens of potters from around the country compete in pottery games. They also set up booths to display and sell their pottery.
CAM-ROCK PARK
Three parks connect to each other along Koshkonong Creek to form the Cam-Rock Park System, a Dane County park. The park system includes over 300 acres of woods and meadowland with trails for walking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking. All 3 parks also have picnic shelters and playground equipment. Each of the 3 parks has its own unique character.
Cam-Rock 1
The trail starts on Water Street in downtown Cambridge, just a block from Main Street. The trail stays close to Koshkonong Creek. There is almost always a view of the water and the natural wildlife that thrive near running water.
Cam-Rock 2
This park is on the east side of Koshkonong, and is accessible from County Highway B. The park is heavily wooded with evergreens.
Cam-Rock 3 (pictured)
This park is accessible from Highland Drive, just down the road from Whispering Winds. The park is both woods and meadows. Nice view of Koshkonong Creek from the hilltop shelter.
FIRESIDE THEATER
Located in nearby Fort Atkinson, about 15 minutes southeast of Cambridge, WI, the Fireside is well-known throughout the region for its good dinners (especially its Friday night fish fries), its family entertainment (mostly musicals), and its gift shops.
MADISON, WI
About a 30-minute drive west of Cambridge, Madison, WI is the state capital and a beautiful city that sprawls around four lakes. The Capitol Square is the setting for farmers markets on Saturday mornings, and summer concerts on Wednesday evenings. The Overture Center, near downtown, is always offering concerts and plays to suit anyone's tastes. Madison, WI is also the home of the University of Wisconsin and its Badger sports teams. The University also offers many inexpensive concerts and plays.
